Dr. Leilena Shimeles Workneh
Ethiopia Project Manager
Dr. Leilena Shimeles, WGH Ethiopia Project Manager, is a medical doctor and public health professional based in Ethiopia. She is currently serving as the project manager in Ethiopia. She has worked as the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) program manager at TaYA, a local CSO in Ethiopia for the past four years. She received her medical degree from Addis Ababa University and her Masters of Public Health from Jimma University. She is currently doing her thesis for MA in Project Management at Addis Ababa University. She has worked as general practitioner and medical Director for Debresina Primary Hospital and later served as an emergency and referral officer at Addis Ababa Regional Health Bureau.
She is the co-founder of Ethiopian Medical Association-Junior Doctors’ Network that envisions a network where young, empowered physicians meet and revolutionize the health system through extraordinary leadership and impact global health. She is a passionate youth advocate who has dedicated her life to Sexual and Reproductive health equity. She has represented young people on various national and international platforms advocating for the realization and pursuit of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
