Sweden

Founded in January 2019

On January 25, 2019, Women in Global Health Sweden was launched at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, to provide a platform for better recognition of women shaping global health, expand women’s networking opportunities, and advocate for equal inclusion of women at all levels.

The Chapter was initiated by Sara Causevic, Wiebke Mohr, and Helena Nordenstedt from the Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation (SIGHT) and Karolinska Institute, in collaboration with other national organizations. A list of more than 200 women working on health and gender issues in Sweden was published creating a network of supporters for the Chapter.

our aims
The WGH
Sweden Chapter
is working to:

The objective of the Swedish Chapter is to increase the visibility of women in global health and beyond, to extend the networking and mentorship opportunities, and to foster mutual support. It will serve as a reference point to women to be taken into consideration for leadership positions, decision-making bodies, and presentations and talks on panels and conferences.

The Chapter also aims to create an enabling environment for the promotion of transformative leadership in health that is gender-responsive, advocating for gender equality in workplaces including in academia and research, and for inclusion and diversity of women in the health sector.
