Founded in 2022

The Women in Global Health Uganda Chapter (WGH Uganda) is a national platform that brings together all genders and disciplines to achieve gender equality in global health leadership. We believe that everyone has the right to attain equal levels of participation in leadership and decision-making regardless of gender, age and other differences.

is working to:

WGH Uganda works to promote gender equality in health leadership by ensuring women have equal voice in decision-making and creating opportunities for training, mentorship, and professional growth.

The chapter connects members with local and global networks, fostering collaboration, learning, and the sharing of best practices across Africa and beyond.

It also advocates for improved health services for underserved women and mobilizes resources to support programs that advance gender equality and leadership in health.

Our Work

Advancing gender equality and women’s leadership in health and improving services for underserved women.

Our Advocacy

To enhance women’s capabilities in leadership, the chapter delivers targeted seminars and workshops in key skills such as networking, public speaking, and effective leadership. It also leverages existing leadership capacity-building programs within institutions and networks to create opportunities for training and mentorship for women in health. In the long term, WGH Uganda mobilizes resources to develop and implement programs that advance gender equality and leadership, while engaging in advocacy initiatives to improve service delivery for marginalized women.

Our Leaders

The core team members are also members of other health professional associations in Uganda. We will use this platform to engage with existing health associations including the Women Doctors Association, Nurses Federation, among others to deliver seminars and workshops on women’s leadership and gender equity in health.
