In recent years Germany has taken on a new leadership role in global health, and so it is vital that German women can significantly contribute to this development and emerge as leaders. Ilona Kickbusch and Sabine Ludwig convened a group of women working in the field of global health in Berlin in July 2017 to discuss the founding of a German chapter. The German chapter was officially launched on 12th January 2018 in Berlin with the support of the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, the Ministry of Health, the World Health Summit, and further sponsors.
