Spain

Founded: September 2021

The Spanish Chapter of Women in Global Health was founded in 2021 by a diverse and multidisciplinary group of women involved in academia, activism, healthcare, and NGOs, among other fields, supported by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), our host institution.
We are a diverse group of women and people of other genders, who work in Global Health from a variety of experiences and disciplines. With the common objective of promoting feminism, justice and equity in all areas of health in Spain and the rest of the world. We focus our work in 6 areas: leadership, research, mentoring, partnerships, training and policies. Our fast-growing Chapter aims to create a platform to promote gender equality in all aspects of health and well-being across the world. We hope to offer an intersectional and intercultural environment to enable gender parity in different fields of global health sciences and to encourage women’s leadership roles through open discussion, training opportunities, and promotional activities.
We promote gender equity in research, training, and policy through advocacy, networking, and mentoring opportunities for women, always guided by our core values: justice and equity, solidarity, feminism, diversity, interculturality, and sustainability.
