The Uganda chapter places a strong emphasis on networking, providing members with opportunities to connect with other WGH chapters across Africa and around the world. Through these networks, members can share experiences, learn best practices, and collaborate on initiatives that advance women’s leadership in health. The chapter also engages with local professional associations, creating platforms for seminars, workshops, and mentorship programs that strengthen connections, foster collaboration, and expand opportunities for women in health at both national and global levels.

The Women in Global Health Uganda Chapter (WGH Uganda) is a national platform that brings together all genders and disciplines to achieve gender equality in global health leadership. We believe that everyone has the right to attain equal levels of participation in leadership and decision-making regardless of gender, age and other differences.

Our Advocacy
To enhance women’s capabilities in leadership, the chapter delivers targeted seminars and workshops in key skills such as networking, public speaking, and effective leadership. It also leverages existing leadership capacity-building programs within institutions and networks to create opportunities for training and mentorship for women in health. In the long term, WGH Uganda mobilizes resources to develop and implement programs that advance gender equality and leadership, while engaging in advocacy initiatives to improve service delivery for marginalized women.
Our Leaders
The core team members are also members of other health professional associations in Uganda. We will use this platform to engage with existing health associations including the Women Doctors Association, Nurses Federation, among others to deliver seminars and workshops on women’s leadership and gender equity in health.
