The Women in Global Health Uganda Chapter (WGH Uganda) is a national platform that brings together all genders and disciplines to achieve gender equality in global health leadership. We believe that everyone has the right to attain equal levels of participation in leadership and decision-making regardless of gender, age and other differences. The WGH Uganda core team Includes: Rhoda Wanyenze (Chapter Lead), Beatrice Amuge, Mary Najjuma, Sarah N. Ssali, Donna Kusemererwa, Catherine Odenyo Ndekera, Doreen Tuhebwe and Nabembezi Ziada Zalwango. The institutional affiliations include Makerere University, Uganda Ministry of Health and Home Nurse Uganda. WGH Uganda will provide an opportunity for Uganda chapter members to network with other WGH chapter members within Africa and globally, to enhance learning and growth for the Uganda Chapter members and other women in health in Uganda. Through these networks, we will also contribute to the efforts in the other WGH Chapters in the African region and globally. This Chapter will ultimately impact service improvement for women generally and especially for the most underserved women, to contribute to the health equity agenda.

Our Leadership
The core team members are also members of other health professional associations in Uganda. We will use this platform to engage with existing health associations including the Women Doctors Association, Nurses Federation, among others to deliver seminars and workshops on women’s leadership and gender equity in health. To enhance the women’s capabilities in leadership, we will deliver targeted seminars and workshops in key leadership skills including networking, public speaking, effective leadership, among others. We will leverage existing leadership capacity building programs within our institutions and within our networks to create opportunities for training and mentorship for women in health. In the long-term, we will mobilize resources to develop and implement programs to advance gender equality and leadership for women in health. We will engage in advocacy initiatives to enhance service delivery for marginalised women.
