Dr. Nicole Atchessi is a medical doctor with more than 10 years of experience in research, public health, and epidemiology. She is the chair and co-founder of Women in Global Health Benin. She got her MD degree from the Université d’Abomey-Calavi in Benin, obtained her Masters in community health and her PhD in Public Health and epidemiology from the Université de Montréal. She held various positions as General Practitioner in Benin, research coordinator at the Centre de Recherche du Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM), analyst at Statistics Canada and Senior epidemiologist and team-lead at the Public Health Agency of Canada. Her areas of research and activities are mainly in Global Health, equity in access to health, child health, maternal health, mental health, surveillance in epidemiology and infectious diseases.
