Daney Ivonne Ramirez is a gender and development specialist based in Panama City, Panama. With a passion for advancing gender equality and employing transformative approaches, Daney has dedicated her career to empowering women and girls across Panama, Honduras, and Guatemala. Notably, her impactful work with adolescent mothers facing intersecting inequalities at the “Las Claras Program” earned her a nomination for HEROES for Panama in 2018. She has also championed the voices of indigenous women, striving to ensure their representation in decision-making spaces. Drawing from her extensive experience in the nonprofit and international cooperation sector, Daney has held roles at Vital Voices Panama, the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, UN Women, and the World Bank. Her multifaceted background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of development across diverse contexts, encompassing stakeholder engagement, project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, compliance, management, donor cultivation, and movement building. Currently, Daney serves on the Board of Vital Voices Panama and is a Chevening alumna. She holds a Master in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Chicago and a Master in Gender and Development (MA) from the Institute of Development Studies.
