Finland
Founded: August 2019
Women in Global Health Finland was Co-Founded by Jennifer Martin and Salla Atkins in 2019. Since the launch of the Chapter in April 2020 it has grown to 130 members. The Chapter is currently hosted by Tampere University. Women in Global Health Finland is a network of like-minded global health professionals from different sectors; academia, private, and government. Our goal is to bring together global health professionals through a grass-roots movement.
The principal aim of the chapter is to raise the visibility of women working in global health and to galvanize a network of individuals to support more women into leadership positions in global health through advocacy and an action-oriented approach. WGH Finland aims to strengthen the chapter’s partnerships with other chapters, to offer its members, many of who are in the early stages of their careers, access to information and opportunities beyond the immediate networks within Finland.

Our work
WGH Finland has organized several webinars such as the Professional Journey – Speaker series and networking events like Meet&Greet in multiple locations simultaneously to bring together people working in global health. Together with WGH India the Finnish Chapter has been collaborating with the Global Health Mentorships Women Mentoring Women program.
In 2023-2025 WGH Finland will continue building a global health network, bringing opportunities, and training on the field of gender equality for its members.
