Date, time and location: 24 May 2023 | 18:00-19:30 CET | Geneva, Switzerland
Join us for an in-person event during the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, where select Member States gather to discuss gender equity and the health workforce in relation to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and pandemic preparedness. The event follows the World Health Organization’s Fifth Forum on Human Resources for Health held in April 2023, which highlighted critical health workforce issues that must be addressed if the world is to achieve UHC by 2030 and be better prepared for future pandemics.
Women in Global Health will bring together various actors to share insights into policies, programs, and models that promote gender equity and support the health workforce as the foundation for health systems security. We will focus on four key areas that require further strengthening: (1) increasing the proportion of women health workers in leadership roles, (2) recognizing the value of unpaid health and care work and the importance of equal pay in the health sector, (3) protecting women health workers from harassment and violence in the workplace, and (4) ensuring safe and decent working conditions for all health workers, everywhere.
