Universal Health Coverage for All: Advancing Gender-Responsive Health Systems for Comprehensive SRHR

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is fundamental to the lives and well-being of all, including girls and women. Programming and adequately funding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services is important both for women and girls and for health workers, who are the first point of contact for providing services. Recognizing and acting on this in the context of UHC is a significant health and rights issue. While health is a universal human right, we need a gendered and intersectional approach to ensure our health systems are gender-responsive and truly leave no one behind.
Women in Global Health in collaboration with Amref Health Africa will host a side event in the margins of the UN Civil Society Conference in May 2024 that will delve into the intersectionality of gender in UHC. The UN CSO conference provides a critical platform for civil society to feed into the outcome of the Summit and the Pact for the Future, elevating communities’ health and well-being.
