Dr. Mariam Dahir, a Somali doctor and expert in health systems, co-founded the Somali Chapter of Women in Global Health. She has 8 years of experience in health program management and coordination (Medical Education, Primary Health Care, and HIV) and health systems strengthening and implementing humanitarian intervention in conflict and complex situations, collaborating closely with donors and governments. Mariam has a research background, particularly in areas impacting women’s well-being. She has conducted significant research on various topics, including sexual reproductive health, GBV, FGM, economic factors, and women’s health. Mariam has been recognized for her outstanding contributions. She was honored as one of 50 inspiring women globally by the European Union in 2019 and as one of 20 impactful women in Africa in 2022 for her FGM activism.
